The European Commission has approved a €20 million Estonian scheme to support companies in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine. The scheme was approved under the State Aid Temporary Crisis and Transition Framework, adopted by the Commission on 9 March 2023 to support measures in sectors which are key to accelerate the green transition and reduce fuel dependencies. The new Framework amends and prolongs in part the Temporary Crisis Framework, adopted on 23 March 2022 to enable member states to support the economy in the context of the current geopolitical crisis, already amended on 20 July 2022 and on 28 October 2022.Under the scheme, the aid will take the form of direct grants. The purpose of the scheme is to support companies to alleviate their dependency to fossil fuels that are affected by the current crisis. Glenn Youngkin said in an interview with WTOP. “It’s the most important right that we have in our great democracy, which is to elect our leaders.”The early voting period lasts for 45 days.Starting Friday, voters will be able to cast a ballot in person or request that a ballot be mailed to them.“Oftentimes, something happens on Election Day where you have a sick child or you might be sick yourself or something happens at work and you miss it,” said Youngkin. “There’s no better way to ensure that your vote is counted then to go ahead and cast it early when you have a chance.”The Vi...Tottenham is thriving after selling Kane. Now it faces biggest test so far against rival Arsenal

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — There was little to suggest Tottenham would make an unbeaten start in the Premier League this season, winning four out of five games to leave it two points behind leader Manchester City and second in the standings. The London club did, after all, sell record goal scorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the offseason without signing an obvious replacement. Spurs were also on the back of a campaign that saw them fail to qualify for Europe for the first time since 2009 after discarding a fourth manager in as many years when Antonio Conte became the latest in a long line of coaches to fail to bring success to the club. Few, then, would have expected Ange Postecoglou to bring the feel-good factor in such a short space of time after being hired in June and named Premier League manager of the month for August. It has been quite a honeymoon period for the Australian coach. Not that he agrees.“I don’t know what your honeymoon was like, but mine didn’t have me losing ...Hollywood: guionistas y estudios retoman negociación para desbloquear la huelga

Cougars take 7-game win streak to Kansas

Things to watch in the Big 12 in Week 4, when newcomers BYU, Cincinnati and UCF play their first league games:GAME OF THE WEEKBYU (3-0) at Kansas (3-0). BYU goes into its first Big 12 game on a seven-game winning streak while the Jayhawks have consecutive 3-0 starts for the first time since 1991-92. It was during that time that the Jayhawks and Cougars had their only previous meeting, in the 1992 Aloha Bowl that Kansas won 23-20. After falling behind 14-0 at Arkansas last Saturday, the Cougars scored 21 in a row, then allowed 17 before scoring 17 more to give the Big 12 its second win in a Southeastern Conference stadium this season (Texas won at Alabama). It was the first time BYU overcame a 14-point deficit to win under coach Kalani Sitake, in his eighth season at his alma mater. The last loss for Kansas was in last season’s Liberty Bowl against the Razorbacks, 55-53 in triple OT.BEST MATCHUPRJ Harvey, Johnny Richardson and UCF’s running game against Kansas State’...The AP Top 25 has been around since 1936. Who votes and how does it work?

The Associated Press college football poll started in 1936, the brainchild of former sports editor Alan J. Gould. The number of teams ranked, the number of voters on the panel and how the ballots are tabulated has fluctuated over the years, but no organization has been ranking teams and naming a major college football national champion longer than the AP. It has been the Top 10, Top 20 and, since 1989, the Top 25.Here is how it works:WHO ARE THE VOTERS?AP Top 25 voters are writers and broadcasters who cover college football for organizations that are members of the AP.AP employees do not vote, but they do choose the voters. In recent years, the number of voters has been around 63, and they come from all over the country.Every state with a Bowl Subdivision school is represented by at least one voter, and the total of number of voters from each state increases with the number of FBS teams. There are also four spots reserved for national voters.HOW DO THEY VOTE?There was a time when vot...No. 15 Ole Miss visits No. 13 Alabama in Week 4 headliner in the Southeastern Conference

Things to watch in Week 4 of the Southeastern Conference:GAME OF THE WEEKNo. 15 Mississippi (3-0) at No. 13 Alabama (2-1) in the SEC opener for both teams. Any matchup of potential SEC West contenders is big, but this game is magnified by the Crimson Tide’s evident vulnerability the past two weeks. Jalen Milroe is back as Alabama’s No. 1 quarterback. The Rebels counter with Jaxson Dart, who has been one of the league’s top quarterbacks over the first few Saturdays. The two teams have met 12 times when both were ranked and Alabama holds a 9-3 advantage in those games. The Tide has won the last seven meetings but barely held on 30-24 last season. Ole Miss and Auburn are the only West Division teams still unbeaten.SECOND-BEST MATCHUPArkansas (2-1, 0-0 SEC) at No. 12 LSU (2-1, 1-0). KJ Jefferson versus Jayden Daniels is reason enough to watch this game. Daniels is second in the SEC with 976 passing yards and eight touchdowns while also topping the Tigers with 157 rushi...No. 4 Florida State at Clemson and No. 17 North Carolina at Pitt headline Week 4 in ACC

Here are things to watch in the Atlantic Coast Conference in Week 4:GAME OF THE WEEKNo. 4 Florida State (3-0, 1-0 ACC) at Clemson (2-1, 0-1). The Seminoles have perhaps the young season’s best win in defeating LSU in their opener and now look to end just about all hope Clemson has at contending for titles this season. Florida State has not beaten Clemson since 2014, a string of seven losses and watched the Tigers take control of the league with seven ACC titles in the past eight years. Clemson was picked this summer as favorites to win the crown again, but Florida State can stamp itself as the league favorite with its first victory in Death Valley since 2013 when Jameis Winston led the program to its last national title. Jordan Travis has experience and talent at quarterback for the Seminoles and is surrounded by dynamic playmakers. Clemson has worked to steady its flustered, mistake-prone offense from its opening loss at Duke under sophomore passer Cade Klubnik, who is making...Latest news
