BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) -- A family friend of 17-year-old Magnus White shared just how much of an impact he had on the Boulder cycling community. “He has traveled throughout the world to race his bike. I have watched him develop over the years and it's amazing and now it's done and it's no fair," Desiree Simon, a friend of the family, said. "This shouldn't have happened." (KDVR) -- Entomologists at a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lab in Fort Collins are studying mosquitoes that can carry the West Nile virus, and they are finding a growing number are resistant to the pesticide sprays used to kill them."Using the same product or the same active ingredient over and over can lead to resistance. We have been seeing some increased accounts of insecticide resistance in the West Nile vectors across the country," Chief Entomologist at the Fort Collins lab Roxanne Connelly said.So far, resistance has been detected in places like Florida, Illinois and California, but not in Colorado, and Connelly wants to keep it that way. SAN DIEGO -- A 12-year-old girl on a paddle board was killed in a collision with a personal watercraft Saturday in Mission Bay, authorities said.The collision occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the De Anza Cove area, Lt. Adam Sharki with the San Diego Police Department told FOX 5 Monday.An 18-year-old man, of Bellflower, California, was using a personal watercraft when he collided with the girl who was paddle boarding, according to law enforcement. 16-year-old skateboarder killed in crash The victim was brought to shore where first responders took over to perform CPR. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Attorneys for Nima Momeni, the tech consultant charged in the death of Cash App founder Bob Lee, said Monday that the two men had a cordial relationship and the defendant had no reason to kill him. The comments from Momeni’s lawyers came during a preliminary hearing, where the prosecution presents its evidence and a judge decides if there is enough to move ahead to trial. The hearing will continue Tuesday, when Momeni’s defense is expected to lay out more of their arguments.
