EL PASO, Texas (AP) — A large group of migrants in Mexico who were poised to barge into the U.S. over the weekend were blocked from crossing a bridge leading from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, to El Paso, Texas, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman said.The migrants were “posing a potential threat to make a mass entry,” and physical barriers were put up to restrict their entry at the Paso Del Norte International Bridge on Sunday afternoon, spokesman Roger Maier said in a statement to The Associated Press on Monday.Barricades also were used in El Paso for a short time Sunday afternoon at other border crossings including the Bridge of Americas and the Stanton-Lerdo bridge, Maier said.Video of the scene at the Paso Del Norte bridge on Sunday showed hundreds of migrants brush past Mexican National Guard officers on the Mexican side, some carrying children on their shoulders. DENVER (KDVR) -- Colorado's unemployment levels were at pre-pandemic levels in January, according to household survey data. The state's unemployment, jobs recovery and hourly earnings outpace the national rates. Gov. Jared Polis and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment released survey data Monday that says 2022 ended with a fully recovered employment picture, at least in terms of the number of Coloradans with jobs. DELEON SPRINGS, Fla. (WSVN) – A little girl is on the road to recovery after she was found unresponsive in her family’s pool Sunday afternoon. Deputies and Volusia County Fire Rescue responded to the home in DeLeon Springs where a 2-year-old girl was found face-down in an above-ground pool while a family member was watching several children for their mother, according to Volusia Sheriff’s Office. She then called 911 for help and started CPR, with the guidance of a 911 supervisor, until a deputy and a rescue crew arrived. She was transported to a hospital in serious condition for further treatment. Police in Lowell have made an arrest following a shooting on Friday that left a man with multiple gunshot wounds.On Monday, the Lowell Police Department announced the arrest of Sovandara Khiaosoth, 29, who is now facing multiple charges in connection with the shooting on Lilley Avenue.Officers were first called to the area around 10:30 p.m. on March 10 for multiple reports of gunshots and a person down, according to Deputy Superintendent of Lowell Police Mark LeBlanc.LeBlanc said first responders who arrived at Lilley Avenue soon found an adult male “suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and began rendering medical aid.”From there, the victim was taken to a local hospital and then a hospital in Boston for further treatment.Following an investigation, the department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau identified Khiaosoth, a Lowell resident, as the alleged shooter. But many other stocks rose on hopes the bloodletting will force the Federal Reserve to take it easier on the hikes to interest rates that are shaking Wall Street and the economy. The S&P 500 was 0.5% higher in late trading after charging back from an early drop of 1.4%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 83 points, or 0.3%, at 31,993, as of 3;05 p.m. Eastern time, while the Nasdaq composite was 1.1% higher.
