By CHRISTOPHER RUGABER and FATIMA HUSSEIN (Associated Press Writers)WASHINGTON (AP) — A union of government employees on Monday sued Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and President Joe Biden to try to stop them from complying with the law that limits the government’s total debt, which the lawsuit contends is unconstitutional. The lawsuit comes just weeks before Yellen has warned that the government could default on the federal debt if Congress fails to raise the borrowing limit by then. Financial markets have been increasingly nervous about the potential for default, with economists warning that a failure to raise the debt limit could trigger a global financial crisis. The lawsuit, filed by the National Association of Government Employees, says that if Yellen abides by the debt limit once it becomes binding, possibly next month, she would have to choose which federal obligations to actually pay once the debt limit bars the government from further borrowing. Doing so, the law...The best walking trails in Catskill, according to AllTrails

By Emily Weinstein, The New York TimesI love a cooking shortcut, especially when it delivers tremendous flavor. Ingredients like Italian sausage, kimchi and feta cheese are immediate dish boosters, doing much of the heavy lifting for you. I’m also happy to lean on packaged sliced or chopped vegetables at the end of the busy day. (I can’t remember who told me to buy peeled garlic, but I’m indebted to you.) The recipes below are animated with that big flavor energy, without requiring extra work from you.1. Grilled Shrimp With Spicy SlawLightly charred, citrusy grilled shrimp are the star of this quick slaw made from a pile of thinly sliced, crunchy green cabbage tossed with a sweet-tart citrus dressing. Cilantro adds bright flavor, and this dish has a bit of spice in the form of fresh jalapeños. They range quite a bit in their heat level, so start with a small amount and add more as you see fit. (You can also add julienned mango to tame the heat, if you like.) Feel free to substitute ...Preliminary 3.4 magnitude earthquake strikes near Malibu

The prismatic energy of her indelible style was developed prior to her visual art journey, in her career as an accessories designer which included an award-winning namesake handbag collection. The W Hotel exhibition draws on Lai’s eclectic experience in fashion, installation, and material experimentation to create an atmospheric experience across the building’s public spaces. Titled Unlock Your Dreams, the project blends playful nostalgia and inspirational fantasy, while examining and celebrating the power of inclusivity, as Lai speaks to the beauty of following one’s own path.Mary Lai at the W HotelL.A.
