ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - A St. Louis County police officer may have been targeted when he was attending an Easter Sunday service at a south St. Louis County church. An incident report said it was only the officer’s car that was broken into in the church parking lot. It was the officer’s personal car. A rear window was smashed between 10:40 a.m. and 12:21 p.m., and the officer’s service belt, which contained his gun and taser, was stolen. His body armor and uniform pants were also reported stolen.“It is frustrating,” said Sgt. Tracy Panus with the St. Louis County Police Department. “We’re human, and we do people things, and unfortunately, this is the kind of stuff that can happen if we leave our guns or any of our police equipment in our vehicles.” Top story: “Easter Miracle” for Lake St. Louis officer critically injured by suspected drunk driver Panus addressed head-on the fact that police have been warning the public about criminals who often break into cars looking for one thing....Honoring fallen soldiers including Korean War vet from Centralia

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri House on Tuesday gave initial approval to bills that would ban certain medical procedures for transgender minors and prohibit transgender athletes from competing in school sports according to their gender identity. The legislation is similar to a pair of Senate bills that chamber approved last month. A House committee held a public hearing on those Senate bills Tuesday night. The ban on gender-affirming care brought the most discussion, and two Republicans broke from their party to vote “no,” resulting in a 106-45 vote. Republican Rep. Chris Sander of Lone Jack, who is openly gay, voted “no” along with House Majority Leader Jon Patterson, R-Lee’s Summit, who is a doctor.Benton Republican Rep. Jamie Burger’s bill delineating sports participation by sex as assigned at birth was approved on a 107-41 vote. Sander once again voted “no,” along with Republican Rep. Tony Lovasco of O’Fallon. Rep. ST. LOUIS - You don’t need to be a meteorologist to help save lives during weather events. That’s according to St. Louis National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Beitscher, who has helped teach hundreds, if not thousands, of people how to spot storms.“These storm spotters are really essential for us to get ground truth on what’s happening,” Beitscher said.Beitscher is teaching people how to take photos and videos of storms and then report that information to the National Weather Service. The information can help NWS meteorologists during active weather events and help them predict future events. Nolan Arenado was just a bit player at Coors Field Tuesday night. Until he swung his magic bat in the seventh inning, made the Rockies pay for Ryan McMahon’s costly error, and helped propel the Cardinals to a 9-6 comeback win over the Rockies.Arenado, the former Rockies star third baseman, hit a three-run double off Dinelson Lamet in the Cardinals’ four-run seventh, tying the game 6-6 and turning Coors into Busch Stadium West as the red-clad fans went into a frenzy.St. Louis won the game in the ninth against Pierce Johnson on a leadoff homer by Nolan Gorman, followed by a walk by Brendan Donovan, a sacrifice bunt by Tommy Edman and an RBI single by Paul Goldschmidt. Tyler O’Neill’s single scored Goldschmidt to give St. Louis its three-run cushion.Truthfully, Arenado should never have had the chance to play the hero. The Rockies should have been out of the inning but McMahon botched Edman’s grounder to second to load the bases with two outs. A routine walk at a Studio Park last week turned into a medical emergency for one pet owner after his dog was sickened by drugs it had found on the ground. Andrew Epstein told KTLA that he and his dog, Nova, walk in Woodbridge Park nearly every day, but that after one walk last week, his 4-year-old hound wasn’t herself when the pair returned home. “Having trouble walking, wobbling, her eyes started getting glassy,” Epstein said of Nova’s condition at home. After a visit to a 24-hour animal hospital, the vet informed Epstein that Nova had somehow ingested THC and cocaine. “And that's when we were absolutely shocked, just stunned and the vet was asking, ‘Do you know what she ate, how much she ate,’ and we said, ‘We have no idea,’” he said. It’s not the first time something like this has happened. In August, a 15-year-old rescue dog was permanently blinded after eating something containing oxycodone that it found while on a walk in Santa Monica. REDWOOD CITY – The San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office says it will not file criminal charges against five Redwood City police officers who shot and killed an armed man last fall.In a 17-page report released Tuesday, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said the officers were justified in using lethal force against 36-year-old San Carlos resident Abran Gutierrez after he held his girlfriend and two young children hostage at gunpoint.“This was a dynamic, traumatic event where toddlers and infants, the most vulnerable amongst us, were placed in direct threat of great bodily harm or death by the reckless and dangerous acts of Mr. Gutierrez,” Wagstaffe said. “I recognize that each officer on scene that day was required to make a series of rapid decisions as they formulated evolving strategies on how best to ensure that they and innocent civilians all made it safely home that day.”The encounter unfolded around 3 p.m. on Nov. 15 near the intersection of Beech Street and El Camino Rea...SFSU president says Riley Gaines event was 'deeply traumatic' for trans community
