ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Lauren and it's about some family drama. Here's her email: Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Hi Jaime. I have a major dilemma. My daughter is graduating college later this month and the whole family is excited, but it’s also brought up a bit of family drama. See, she only gets three tickets for graduation and they are going to me, my ex-husband (her father), and her younger sister. We are having a graduation party after and everyone in the family is invited, and most people are fine with that. But the issue is her father’s now-wife, who he’s only been married to for a year, is insisting she should be the one to get the third ticket. She keeps calling me and hounding me, and even though I’ve confronted my ex about it, he won’t stop her. Finally, I blew up at her and told her graduation is only for family and she isn’t family, and now she’s angry, my ex is angry...Ask Amy: I’m teen girl and I can’t stop judging others on how they dress

Dear Amy: I am a 16-year-old girl.School is OK (I’m a sophomore), but one thing I notice is the fact that I am really judgmental. I tend to have bad and judgmental thoughts about others. For example, if I see a girl wearing revealing clothing, I will call her a “slut” or a “whore” inside my head. Or if I see a boy wearing pajamas or slides or crocs at school, I’ll think of him as “lazy” and “sloppy.”I also have relatively high standards when it comes to having boyfriends. Most of my standards have to do with clothing and shoes.Even though I’ve never been in a relationship before, I will judge the person by the way they look and if they don’t match my standards, then I won’t give them a chance. There is this senior who was talking to me, but since he didn’t match my standards, I didn’t want to be seen with him around school.I’m one of those people who knows what they don’t want, rather than what they do want.I’m trying to figure out what is wrong with me, but I guess ...Zelenskiy denies attacking Moscow, vows to start counteroffensive

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy denied on Wednesday (3 May) Moscow’s claim that Kyiv attempted to attack the Kremlin, and said his nation would begin a counteroffensive against Russian forces on its own land soon.Russia had earlier Wednesday accused Ukraine of a failed assassination attempt on President Vladimir Putin during a drone strike on the Kremlin Citadel in central Moscow and threatened retaliation.Zelenskiy, NATO's new member, spoke at a Finnish press conference. He said that his main concern was the defense of Ukraine's cities and villages from the Russian invasion, which began almost 15 months earlier.Zelenskiy said: "We don't fight Putin or Moscow; we fight on our own territory."Zelenskiy added: "It is very simple." When asked why it was in Russia’s interest to accuse Ukraine that they were trying to assassinate Putin he said: "It is in our interests. Russia has not won any victories. He (Putin), can no longer inspire his society and he cannot send his troops to ...France's Constitutional Council rejects bid for pension referendum

The Constitutional Council of France rejected a second attempt by political opponents to have a referendum held on the cap on retirement age.Macron overcame weeks of violent protests and fierce union opposition to his plan to increase the retirement age to 64 years by raising it two years. He rammed the legislation through the parliament and signed it into law without a final voting. In a press release, the council stated that the referendum proposal did not meet legal criteria defined by the constitution.Since Macron bypassed the parliament, opposition legislators have twice turned to the Constitutional Council in an effort to derail this reform. They sought its approval each time for a referendum regarding the retirement age.The role of the council was to determine whether the opposition's demand met the legal requirements for a referendum. The first attempt was already rejected, in part because the pension law had not yet been enacted. Also, the referendum proposal would have had n...Declaring it a public nuisance, officials revoke Marin nightclub’ permit

George’s Nightclub in downtown San Rafael has been shut down, for now.The City Council has rejected an appeal by Esly Figueroa, owner of the venue at 842 Fourth St. In April, Figueroa contested the city’s decision to revoke a conditional use permit that allowed it to operate as a nightclub. In her appeal, Figueroa said the city has been targeting her business since a double homicide near the venue two years ago. Figueroa, who is a Spanish speaker, said there was inadequate interpretation provided to her at the Planning Commission meeting. She also alleged inadequate review and discrepancies in information presented. The 4-0 vote on May 1 reaffirms the Planning Commission’s decision to take away the permit, finding the business out of compliance and declaring it a public nuisance. Councilmember Rachel Kertz was absent from the council vote. The revocation prohibits Figueroa or anyone else from running a nightclub at the venue for at least one year. Emily Willingham Melatonin is a hormone associated with our sleep-wake cycles, with levels increasing as the sun goes down. For this reason, it’s a popular sleep supplement for adults and children alike, perceived as being fairly harmless and supported by plenty of testimonials praising its positive effects. If your child takes melatonin as a supplement, though, you’ll want to attend to some news about the melatonin content in over-the-counter gummies. According to a recent study published in the medical journal JAMA, the content of these gummies often exceeds what the label claims. With almost a million children in the United States taking melatonin supplements as an aid for sleep or stress relief, these findings are relevant for many families. One reason they matter, the study authors write, is the striking number of calls to poison control centers, which increased from 8,337 in 2012 to 52,563 in 2021. Along with 27,705 urgent or emergent care visits during this time, there wer...Latest news
