Risk of large hail, isolated tornadoes later today

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Our first of two severe weather threats is expected later today, with the second risk not too far behind.A tricky forecast will unfold this afternoon as a "capped" atmosphere may save some of us but break to leave others susceptible to strong storms. At this point in time, strong to severe storms are still possible for much of our area this afternoon and evening as a disturbance passing overhead, in combination with plenty of moisture and a dry line out west, will help trigger storm development.Slight risk (2 out of 5) for strong to severe storms Tuesday afternoon & eveningA cap in the atmosphere, acting as a lid on growing storms, could suppress storm development. However, most high-resolution models show this cap breaking along and east of I-35 resulting in a better chance of storms and showers. The cap in the atmosphere will determine whether storms will develop Tuesday afternoon/eveningIf the cap breaks and storms develop, large hail, isolated tornadoes and da...Questions remain for flood reduction project in north Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Homeowners along Little Walnut Creek in north Austin are frustrated with a city of Austin project that was supposed to reduce the risk of flooding in their neighborhood after it was put on hold with no indication of resuming anytime soon. The homeowners, who live along Mearns Meadow Boulevard, had to evacuate their homes on April 20 after a severe storm brought heavy amounts of rainfall into the area. A storm culvert adjacent to the homes became clogged with dead trees and debris, leading to extreme flooding. Flood risk reduction project The city of Austin's public works department started the Little Walnut Creek Flood Risk Reduction project in the summer of 2021. The project is going to install an underground storm culvert that runs underneath Mearns Meadow Boulevard. The city said on its website the project would remove some homes from the floodplain. Scott Stephan, who lives on Mearns Meadow, said the city had already done some work underneath the street in front...98.3 TRY Social Dilemma: Can I Request Wedding Guests Stay Till The End of the Reception?

And then with only 30 minutes left in the reception, more people began grabbing their coats and heading out! I felt so bad for the couple. They must have felt like their big day was boring people......I find this to be totally rude. It's one thing if there's an emergency but super tacky if you're simply rushing to get home. We will soon be sending out invites to OUR wedding. Can you ask your listeners if they would find it rude if I included a request that guests stay for the entire reception? We are spending so much time and money on this one day. I want to invite people who truly want to celebrat...VSP: Vermont man arrested after crash reveals he was driving stolen car

Dear Amy: My husband was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 67.About six months after diagnosis, we had a graduation picnic for our granddaughter. My brother-in-law came, got drunk, and when he left, he banged our daughter’s car and told no one. (We were not aware that he was so drunk.)My husband called his brother and he admitted that he’d hit her car, but said he was too drunk to return to the party, so he was going to call later the next day.My daughter called her uncle and lectured him about drinking and driving and was pretty hard on him. I did the same.He texted us and said he didn’t need to be lectured by us and that we wouldn’t see him again. He said he’d send a check for the damage. My husband called him and did not lecture him, but said that we were concerned about his drinking. (We had expressed this in the past.)Over the next two years, he never checked on my declining husband and did not come to his funeral less than three years later. My children and I are bitter. When this ...Residents in Russia's Belgorod returning home after bomb scare
